Thanksgiving Bowl

A large deep plate filled with things we are thankful for. It symbolizes the good health, sound mind, stable finances, happy family, and blessing of children, wealth, a future, a forgiven past, another chance and good life.
Though filled with a large turkey, veggies, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, a thanksgiving bowl is an offering for gratification. When you celebrate next year, remember the blessings of this year and watch out how well as well as how far you have come.
Let the next year’s bowl be bigger, for there will be bigger reasons to be thankful.

Phillip’s thankfulness in disabilities

A friend struck by a disease as a child had to learn to move slower than his friends and family. Living with crouches like he was born with it made life unbearable but Phil was always thankful he had friends like me in his life. He was happier than I was, friendlier than I was and even more ambitious.

I wonder why able people find it hard to be thankful at all times but people with disabilities are more grateful than we are. Phillip came to live with his situation though he could not do anything about it, he taught us all something very important in life-be thankful in all situations.

Do we give to the right people?

It is often preached to give, which we do but how do we know we are giving to the right people? Question is who are the right people who need our gifts, time and resources? These are the people whom our conscience touches us to give to. Some of the people we can give to can be found here;
1.       Homeless people can be given money and extra clothes
2.       Lonely people can be given time
3.       Needy people can be given resources
4.       Sick people can be given vitamins and healthy food
5.       Rich people can be given advice and a listening ear
6.       Depressed people can be given words of encouragement
7.       Happy people can also be encouraged to share their happiness with others
Everyone needs someone to give something to; giving to others does not require deciding who is the right or wrong person. We should be thankful we are in the position to give to others.

Thanksgiving Offering makes you no better than me

Thanksgiving Offering is a token of appreciation for kindness and goodness we have experienced. This can be in form of money, gifts, food and items. Some give their thanksgiving offering at religious centers while others give to the poor or beggars on the street or even donate it to orphanages or retirement centers.

Whenever we offer thanksgiving offering, we are cautious of who is looking; some people want the public to see what they are doing and this makes them feel they are better givers than others. Thanksgiving offering should come from the heart, irrespective of who is watching; all that matters is giving from the heart and being grateful for all in life.

Some others do not know the importance of giving; they can learn from others; cultivate a habit of showing appreciation which could be one of the ones mentioned above or the use of grateful words. All that matters is a thankful heart.
