Poem for the Day - Purple

Born of noble birth
He knew not
Raised as a commoner
Was all he knew.

Blood of royalty
Flowed through him
The color purple was in him
He knew he was different.

All around him seemed beneath
Respect he commanded
Though a commoner he thought
Until the purple cloth found him.

Flowed to him in the fields
The piece familiar enough
Tracing its origin
To find self in a palace.

Understanding not a thing
Adorned with linen and silk
Glad to be among his own
Purple brought him home.
