They were not
expecting their mother. She had shut everyone out of her life all through the
year. As the children all grown up gathered around their Father for Christmas
dinner, she showed up.
Without an
invitation, the room was choked with uneasy silence. She had neither brought
good tidings nor bad news. She seemed remorseful and that was what everyone
needed, after all, it was a season of forgiveness and family.
