Pretty and slauch
In her own pretty way
She helps heal a haunch
Mostly everyday
With her colours so bright
Causing all to smile
Her looks so tight
Leaves stares a while

There is good in all

Day like any other
Trek live every other
Little excitement
When we met

Ball of dust we thought

Our gerbil we gave home

Pushpa Basnet did not see the wrong things around her and ignore them like a lot of us do. She made a move, made an impact and changed lives. We do not realize the impact we make when we go to the extreme to help and save people.

There is need for change and it starts with you.

Focus of the Day - Natalie Warne

Being visible and making an impact to save people whom you may never meet in life or may never have anything to do with you was what Natalie Warne did. At eighteen, she decided to become involved in helping out children in Uganda; a place she is not from and people she did not know. But she did know everyone had the right to freedom, leading a campaign which successfully made positive impact.

Focus of the Day - Aki Ra

It takes a great person not to compromise especially when it comes to his beliefs and future.  Aki Ra, a child soldier found himself in an awkward situation and did not compromise. We are all in need of one thing or the other in life and we find ourselves in situations where we need to compromise but we need to stand firm, remember people like Aki Ra and live by our name and word.

Not just animals

Can be humans too

Needed sometimes

Unwanted most times

The animal can be beneficial

The human annoying

Together they still remain worms

Focus of the Day - Om Prakash Gurjar

To set a mark means to do something remarkable for the benefit of others. Om Prakash Gurjar achieved this by thinking of the children around him and not thinking selfishly of how to make life better for himself alone.

We need to put aside ‘self’ and embrace the freedom and rights of others. It may seem hard but anything and everything is possible.

Sneaking past

Until caught

And made as pets

Focus of the Day - Thandiwe Chama

When people remain silent like the crowd, they become thee crowd. When you realize you deserve more than you get but do nothing about it, you get nothing. Thandiwe Chama was not one of the many, she singled herself out from the crowd and made her voice heard, went through struggle to get educated and helped many like her in the process.

This was for a good course and because of her, many are educated today through her boldness and bravery. What stand are you willing to make for yourself, the community and the unborn generation? There are still many changes left to be made.

Focus of the Day - Iqbal Masih

There is always someone to pay the price for others to be saved. Iqbal Masih went through so much suffering for the future of other children to be made right. He stood against child labor and succeeded in reducing it to a great extent. What bothers our society that we stand against and make an impact? Not necessarily with the use of rallies and protests but with scribbled writings and comments and contributions, we could save a life.

Focus of the Day - Nkosi Johnson

Mature at an early age to be bold enough to speak to the public about the need of acceptance of HIV carriers in the world is what Nkosi Johnson did and that brought him to the limelight. He may not have lived long but he made the impact he could. If he could change his destiny of not being born with HIV, he would have. But like many of us, we cannot change our destinies but live with it.

Not just another student who was interested in the freedom the youths and the people, but a pace setter for others to enjoy peace. It is a wonder people must die so that others can be saved and for the sake of peace. Before peace must reign, there must be war. Hector is remembered not just among the youths of South Africa, but among youths around the world who protest for world peace.

Focus of the Day - Anne Frank

It is a good thing when you find people keeping records, notes, diaries and journals. These often come in handy. Anne Frank was an example of a good diary keeper; covering the experiences she faced during the holocaust.

Her diary survived but she did not and it still lives through movies and books till this day. You can live forever through your writings as long as you write the truth.

Focus of the Day - Samantha Smith

It is not how long you live but how well. This statement describes the life of Samantha Smith and how meaningful her life was to many. Only thirteen years on earth, she was described as an Ambassador of Goodwill.

A child of peace, being a peace activist; self confident and educated without fear to write a letter which made an impact and a book which made meaningful sense and enlightenment to many. Young people have made impacts in the past, many still do. Our role is to encourage them since we only live once.
